Rain gatherer table
Rain gatherer table is a sculptural table project where the functional surface is treated as a small topographic landscape. The design is developed through parametric methods, using digital control to shape the rounded openings, raised rims, connecting bridges, and overall composition of the table. Instead of a flat rectangular tabletop, the project proposes a surface with depth, voids, and tactile variation. The digital model is prepared for CNC fabrication, allowing the complex geometry to be cut and assembled with accuracy. After machining, the object is finished by hand through sanding, polishing, and oil treatment so the surface can be touched, used, and read at close range.
The table can be placed indoors in lounges, galleries, private residences, hospitality interiors, offices, or collector spaces. With suitable detailing and finish, the concept can also be adapted for outdoor terraces, resort landscapes, courtyards, and covered public spaces. Its function is not limited to holding objects. It gathers attention, organizes movement around it, and gives the room a central art-object presence. People want to approach it, trace the openings, understand the changing edges, and photograph the form from above and from the side.
As parametric furniture, Rain gatherer table shows how digital design can turn a familiar typology into an experiential object. The voids can hold small items, frame negative space, or simply create visual rhythm. The raised contours make the table feel like a terrain rather than a plane. For architects, interior designers, hospitality clients, and collectors, the project offers an object that is practical enough for use but strong enough to define a room. It becomes a conversation piece, a tactile sculpture, and a functional table produced through CNC machining and refined craft.
