Scate Chair

A high-backed parametric chair that combines seating with a vertical sculptural silhouette.

Scate Chair

Scate Chair is a parametric furniture object that compresses seating, sculpture, and vertical architectural presence into one chair. The project is designed through parametric methods, where the profile sequence, height, seat geometry, backrest, and pointed base relationship are controlled digitally. This allows the chair to move beyond the category of ordinary seating. It becomes a small spatial monument: compact in footprint, but visually dominant through its height, rib rhythm, and sharp silhouette.

The production process follows the logic of digital fabrication. The digital model is prepared for CNC machining, with individual profiles cut on a CNC machine and assembled into the final layered body. The object is then hand-finished through sanding, polishing, and oil treatment, refining the edges and making the surface suitable for direct contact. This craft stage is important because Scate Chair is meant to be touched and used, not only displayed.

The chair can be placed in interiors such as galleries, private residences, hospitality lounges, design showrooms, offices, retail environments, and collector spaces. With suitable finish and detailing, the concept can also be adapted for outdoor covered terraces or sculptural seating areas. Wherever it is installed, it becomes a dominant element. People recognize it from a distance, approach it, want to sit in it, run a hand along the ribs, and photograph the form. It has the presence of an art object, but it also maintains the direct physical invitation of a chair.
